HIstory
With a long history as farmland, this beautiful you-pick farm was cleared for sheep in years past. From the 1940s to the turn of the century it became a family dairy operation.
The first blueberries arrived in 2008, after the previous owners spent a year to prepare the soil for planting. Now the fields host eleven varieties of blueberries, fourteen varieties of Lavendula Angustifolia, and perennial herbs and flowers. An abundance of diverse wild flowers and trees, which create habitat for beneficial insects and birds. The Shiitake mushrooms grow on logs in the woods.
Water from surrounding hills passes through Shingle Hollow Brook and irrigates the fields. The wetland is home to great blue heron, geese, ducks, red-winged blackbirds and other native birds, amphibians, insects and small mammals. We count on our honey bees and equally important native bees and bumble bees, to pollinate the berries and other crops.
